The mixture is then heated at 70 C. for 3 hours.After returning to room temperature, water is added then the aqueous phase is extracted several times with dichloromethane. The combined organic phases are then successively washed with a 1M aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide (three times) then with a saturated aqueous solution of ammonium chloride (twice). The organic phase is dried over sodium sulphate, filtered and evaporated to dryness.
