Hydroxybenzisoxazole was converted into chlorobenzisoxazole and then to hydrazinobenzisoxazole. New tricyclic compounds, triazolobenzisoxazole was obtained from hydrazinobenzisoxazole when treated with formic acid. Similarly 3-hydroxytriazolobenzisoxazole and 3-mercaptotriazolobenzisoxazole were prepared by the action of urea and CS2 in alkali resp. The compounds were characterized by elemental anal. and spectral data. Newly synthesized compounds were screened for their antimicrobial activities against several microbes.
