The presence of lithium tetrafluoroborate in the reaction medium promotes the efficient and stereoselective α-C-C coupling of I by enhancing the production of α-dialkylamino radicals and the isomerization of N,N,N’,N’-tetraethylbutane-2,3-diamine.
