The replacement of a hydrogen atom at the 7-aminothiazole group by a chlorine resulted in an improvement of the activity against resistant Gram-positive bacterial strains including the methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and the ciprofloxacin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CRSA).
